On Mother's Day we found ourselves wandering again, looking for wonder on San Juan Island. The story is that one of the foxes lost two of her kits and she is assisting the other one, helping with the rabbit supply for food. We watched the mothers reject their nursing and seemingly forcing them to eat the rabbits. The kits seemed to have more fun pouncing and playing than being concerned with eating. I all it was a wonderful experience, everyone respected the animals and enjoyed.

These Short Eared Owls visit us each winter. Such a challenge to shoot, most of all you have to learn their behavior patterns. We call them Shorties, I could not resist the music selection.
